I can get past just about everything - even at this point in my life, because I know I'll be out of here by August. But the thing that I can't get past is how little there is to do here. No wonder everyone constantly drinks and smokes up! There is literally nothing to do. It's 7:53 pm right now. Any place I would go to is either closed or closes at 8. Everyone I know here is either a) lame or b) working. I can't even watch a dvd right now unless I do so on my laptop, which is eh, but if I wasn't in a shite mood, I could. Aside from hanging out with Elena when she came up for a few hours today, I've been online almost the whole time. And I'm probably just going to stay online and drink for the rest of the night. Goddamnit I need another job. Oh, or to move out of here. That'd be sweet too kthx.

I fucked up so badly.

Edit: Resignation and sleepiness are taking over thank god. Still freaking out about huge huge huge mistakes, but at least they will go away while I am asleep (I hope).

Four years ago I don't think I ever imagined I'd say this, but

Fuck, I'm really gonna miss Worcester. Crazy drama, fucked up social situations/interactions and all. I mean I'll mostly miss living so close to so many good friends, but still.

Goodbye Worcester, I will visit you often this summer.

my life is one hilariously awkward disaster after another

let's hope this doesn't blow up in my face?

edit: i would consider future increased awkwardness to be 'blowing up in my face.' just for the record. also let the record show that there is a vvvvvvvv high chance of this occurring.

This is probably one of my favourite songs of the decade. Weird, since I just started listening to Cut Copy a couple months ago and I haven't even listened to this song extensively. But it's got such an amazing feel to it; perfectly fits my mood 99% of the time (> two standard deviations, must be an outlier, discard findings immediately plz).

Edit: omg also the fuckin sax piece throughout the song reminds me of a similar bit in Wet Hot American Summer. If yer gonna remind people of something, you could do a hell of a lot worse than that.

visited 16 states (32%)
Create your own visited map of The United States or website vertaling duits?

I kind of realised that part of the reason I have no real interest in traveling abroad right now is because I don't even really know my own country. I've been to 16 states, 6 of which came in a two month period between eighth and ninth grades. It'd be a completely different experience now. So as far as I'm concerned, I've got 40 states to visit. The only ones I don't need to: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Islands, Connecticut, New York, California, Oregon, and Washington. ...In other words, New England, New York, and the West Coast. So I've got my work cut out for me. Hopefully, despite the economy and the fact that I still don't know what I'll be doing or where I'll be in 2.5 months, I'll be able to start on this project this summer.

Today has been some kind of convoluted time warp to different points in the last six years of my life or so.

The weather today made me feel like the last couple spring breaks. Just a feeling of total elation, because it's absolutely gorgeous, I don't have any worries, and, fuck it: I cannot be fucking touched because everything just seems that fucking right.

Getting so jacked up on coffee that I practically went into overdrive - senior year of high school. If there'd been a trip somewhere surrounded by a few other similarly hyperactive friends, the experience would've been complete.

And now, listening to The Promise Ring is bringing me back to junior and senior year of high school. Which is funny, considering that I barely listened to them back in high school (might've listened to an album once or twice), and tonight is the first time I've listened to them since. But it's striking some kind of chord with me.

I guess, deep down, I still have some 90s punk ethos somewhere in me. For a while, pretty much anything on Jade Tree Records and Epitaph Records was my thing, especially melodic hardcore bands like Lifetime and Bad Religion. And listening to The Promise Ring now is bringing back some of the better memories I have of high school. Can't really explain it, but it's really, really nice listening to them right now. This might just kick me off into late 90s indie/punk/rock for a while.

This semester has started off with, I believe, a record number of people acting like complete jackasses. Or at least close to the record. Can't tell if I'm annoyed because I wish people weren't being so dumb in our last semester, or if I'm just relieved that this is our last semester. Leaning towards the latter.

Also my classes are all jokes and not worth my time or thousands of dollars. My directed study is the only thing keeping me sane, academically.

Fever Ray.

What a brilliantly moody album. About half of the tracks have already been my favourite song from the album at one point or another. Right now it's "Keep the Streets Empty For Me." Absolutely beautiful.

Just had my first "OH FUCK" moment re: 2008 music.

Totally missed Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan's new album. It came out in fucking May and I somehow missed it. Goddamnit.

Gawwwwwwd they play off each other so well.

My top last.fm shite from 2008 )

Edit: Having listened to "Merriweather Post Pavilion" several times now, I'm gonna go back on my earlier prediction and say that it isn't the album to beat in 2009. Don't get me wrong - it's fucking fantastic. Easily in the top five albums of the year. But mostly it just comes down to "My Girls" and "Bluish" being like, two of the top three songs of the year. Holy fucking godshit.

Just walked from Union Station back to the apartment. 1F, feels like -19F with wind chill. Walking through Worcester at 3AM. Someone should've told all the drunken youths that while Boston was running late night, that didn't mean that all of Massachusetts was.

But somehow it was still worth it. It was still a crazy night that was more fun than I've had in a long time. This is how you fucking start off a new year.

Jog on, 2008; helloooooooo, 2009.
